Anexis clinch bronze at PGS

Anexis finished third at ProGamerSeries 2012 after defeating place2play.ru 2-1 to secure a €2,000 cheque.

Following Anexis' impressive display against Natus Vincere, it was expected that the Danes would put up a good fight on this map against place2play, but the Russians came out very strongly and managed to go up 7-1 as Terrorists. Anexis' aggressive CT play was not showing any results, and so the Russians went into half-time with a 12-3 lead.

The first three rounds of the second half then went to place2play, and even though Anexis tried to turn things around, they fell short against the Russian team, who won the map 16-7.

de_inferno was almost the polar opposite, with Anexis strolling to an early 6-0 lead as Terrorist thanks to some well-timed strategies on both bombsites. The seventh round then went to place2play.ru, but Anexis were not impressed and added two more rounds to their account. However, the rest of the first half went to the Russians, who showed some quality AWP work courtesy of Fox and Neo.

In the second half, Anexis got off to a good start once again and took the opening three rounds, but then place2play demonstrated their quality in terms of gun handling and took the score to 15-12. The Russians were not able to capitalize on their three match points, though, allowing the Danes to take the match to overtime. A total of six overtimes were required to determine the winner, but Anexis finally came out on top 34-32.

On de_train, place2play started on the CT side, and the Russians cruised to an impressive 7-0 lead. It looked like they had the game under control, but then Anexis mounted an impressive comeback to pick up six rounds before the end of the first half.

The Russians then further enlarged their lead to six by winning the first three rounds and showed some attacking prowess to take the score to 15-11, but with four match points in their hand, they allowed the Danish team to equalise once again. This time around, though, only one overtime was required, as Anexis ran out 19-17 winners to win the match 2-1 and the €2,000 prize.
